Hydrostatic - the fat ass fall classic 21 miles- BLUE MARSH LAKE

Details

The Fat Ass events originally started in the mid to late 70's . They came about because there were no organized long distance events out there where trail runners could participate and if there was the rare event - there was no way to QUALIFY to be able to enter such an event. Enter the Hydrostatic Fat Ass runs. The Fat Ass runs were not paid events - but made to create long training runs (or hikes) for people who wanted more distance and endurance out of their running. Their motto became "No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Whining". People just showed up and did it. Adventure Junkies has continued this tradition for the last many years with the annual Hydrostatic event.

Today, we add to this tradition by having the HYDROSTATIC FALL CLASSIC hike/run around Blue Marsh lake, northwest of Reading. We will do the 21 mile version.

[Look for the Spring Hydrostatic in its 8th annual hiking/running Saturday May 2, 2026 up in Loyalsock already posted in Adventure Junkies]

The start of the hike with be the "stick" and at the junction hikers/runners will go opposite ways - around the lake following the Lake Border trail. There will be a cooler stashed at mile 14 or 8 depending which way you go for those who need it. The Lake Border trail around Blue Marsh Lake offers excellent views of the lake, wild flowers in the fields mostly on the western side and exposed treeless stretches field which you will feel the sun on the eastern side.

Even though the moto of the Fatt Ass hikes is "no awards" we do have an award to memorialize winners of these events - winner being the fastest time.

The location of the start is TBD - we will reveal as we get closer to the event. If you are looking for certain drinks or things to be dropped at mile 8/14 - will need to meet up at the start approx ½ hour prior to race time so it can be dropped.
