Hunters pass - Beckhorn - Dix… 9 plus ADIRONDACKS
Details
This is a lollipop hike of about 9 miles and significant elevation of 3400 ft roughly .
Summing the peaks of BeckHorne and Dix are secondary.
My main objective is to check out the hunter’s pass slide - this will require a little bit of bushwhacking into a drainage and then hiking up a slab of rock up the side of the mountain - about 900 foot of elevation worth. Interesting ….yes.
The actual trail will mirror the slide, but in the woods . In the world of hiking up slides, my understanding is this is one of the easier ones . I wanna take a look and give it a shot.
There is a really nice video on YouTube .
So basically, you can either attempt the slide or hike up the trail. It is an option .
Meet at the top.

Meet here -
44.02085, -73.82730 elk lake parking area .
you’ll be doing this hike at your own risk. You will need to have proper footwear for sure that will allow you to grip a rock slab very well. I would also strongly recommend gloves and long sleeves, no matter what the weather.
This is a hike that is definitely for experienced hikers - and those who have some experience scrambling or climbing.
Everyone will be put on the waiting list and vetted.
Be advised this is our second significant hike in two days. Doing this hike because it is interesting and fun and not necessarily for speed .
Also be aware that the parking lot at Echo Lake often fills up early, so if we get there too late, we will have to park a little bit further down the road, which will add some distance .
