Hi everyone! I'm super excited to give you a presentation on getting started making microtonal electronic music in Ableton! It's the area of music I'm most passionate about, and I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to share what I've learned about it over the years, especially since resources aimed at beginners in this domain are extremely limited.
I had to stumble, experiment and troubleshoot when I got into microtonal music, and I feel delighted to have the chance to lower the barrier to getting started!
Microtonal music is (a Western term for) music that uses notes that exist in between the notes you can play on a piano, for instance. Microtones are used in many different cultures and contexts, but for this presentation, I'll be focusing on microtonal electronic music.
Exploring alternative tunings can be a really fun and exciting way of adding more metaphorical colors to your sonic palette and expanding the tools available to you for expressing yourself musically!
