Women Network Online and Garden Under the Stars!

Details

Come network with us! We will Introduce ourselves and share ideas for making stronger connections,

Since it is Earth Day, and since we are all interested in our individual and collective health, we have a fabulous speaker on this topic:
Gardening Under the Stars: Saving Our Nocturnal Pollinators & Our Health
After the sun sets, many important pollinating insects begin their night shift. A growing body of research suggests that the glow of uncontrolled outdoor lighting is causing serious harm to these nocturnal insects, migrating birds, other wildlife, as well as our own health. Learn about the ecological impacts of outdoor lighting and how you can reduce light pollution around your home.
Our speaker will be Margery Winters, who is such an engaging speaker that she could make even the topic of a toothpick sound fascinating!
Margery is a long-time naturalist and instructor at Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton where she is delighted to be able to share her passion for earth science and nature with students of all ages. She manages the Nature Center’s native plant gardens and is an advocate for the role of natives in our designed landscapes. She is a Master Landscape Design Consultant and past chair of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Landscape Design Study Program.
