West Hartford Women Meet Jeopardy Champion!
West Hartford Women in Networking welcomes interested women to join us for our November gathering. For fifteen years, WWIN has been offering opportunities that empower and connect women. This session will be no exception and will consist of Introductions, Announcements and lots of Networking.

Our special guest will be :
Katie Kornacki, Jeopardy champion!

Dr. Kornacki will be speaking about her Jeopardy experience as well as the early history of the women's club movement in the U.S. This movement began in the mid 19th century and became a social reform movement for various issues in the U.S. The clubs were involved in issues surrounding education, child labor, environmental protection, legal reforms, library creation and more. These clubs allowed women, who had little political power at the time, to gain influence in their communities.
Katie Kornacki fulfilled a life-long dream of appearing on the quiz show Jeopardy back in June. She is a self-proclaimed "trivia nerd". Professionally, she is a professor of English at Caldwell University, and also previously served as department Chair and as Director of the Honors Program. She specializes in nineteenth-century American literature, women’s literature, transcendentalism, and American studies. Dr. Kornacki is also the former editor of Conversations: The Newsletter of the Margaret Fuller Society and appeared on an episode of the BBC World Service’s The Forum entitled, “Margaret Fuller: Early Feminist and War Correspondent.” She earned her PhD in Literature from UConn, during which time she also worked at the Stowe Center as an interpreter and front desk coordinator. Born in Hartford and raised in Massachusetts, she recently returned to Hartford where she now lives with her 4-year-old daughter, Anne. She looks forward to becoming an active member of the greater Hartford community.
