What we’re about
Welcome to our Meetup group. It's for people who’d like to take part in social activities on a regular basis, meet new friends and lead an active social life.
We aim to discover unique and unusual local activities and events, together with regular, more traditional Meetups like pub nights, meals, cinema/theatre, live music, semi-guided walks etc. Our aim is to compliment activities to your own social calendars.
We welcome new ideas and always encourage members to share with us your thoughts for future events.
Some events will be free and some we ask members make a small contribution to help cover Meetup costs. (Sadly it’s not a free service to the Organisers!)
In addition, we ask that all members keep in mind the fact that our Event Organisers are hosting their events completely voluntarily, in their own time and we need to make the events as straightforward as possible for them to run. The absolute basic requirement of all members is therefore to ensure that you keep your RSVPs up to date. If you put your name down to attend an event and later cannot make it, you need to be fair to all parties involved and click on ‘Edit your RSVP’ to ‘Not going’ ahead of the event. Try not to leave it to the last minute if possible as there will quite often be people on a waiting list wanting to go, should a place become available.
The most important thing about this group is to feel safe, relaxed, included and above all, have fun 😇
Risk Disclaimer:
Please note that all members take part in all activities solely at their own risk. Should any personal loss, accident, illness or physical injury occur during an event, organisers cannot be held accountable. As events are carried out in the public domain, all members reserve the right to take images of their experience to enjoy at a later time. Please inform an organiser at the start of an event if this may be an issue, so they can accommodate accordingly.

See all- Whiteleaf Hill to Pulpit Hill nature reserve circular walkThe Plough At Cadsden, Cadsden£2.00
Another brand new walk that Don and I put together a couple of weeks ago, as we wanted to explore this rural part of our countrside. It has some fantastic views.
We leave @ 10:30am prompt from the Plough pub car park, Princes Risborough HP27 0NB The group will not be waiting for anyone who is not on time 🚙
From the Plough car park we get the very steep climb to the Ridgeway’s Whiteleaf Hill out of the way first! We then take woods and tracks 🌲 to Hampden House 🏫 and pick up the Chiltern Way to Little Hampden. We’ll make our way to Buckmoorend with its little farmshop and as it’s roughly half way, we’ll take a 10/15 minute rest 🍔🍦🐑 ☕️ After skirting around the entrance to Chequers, the route heads through woods again towards Pulpit Hill and its nature reserve 🦋 then filter back to the Plough pub in Lower Cadsden 🍺 with a fabulous sunny garden. (Also the place where David Cameron left his child! 😳)
8 miles and will take roughly 3-3.5 hrs.
NB: Cost is £2 due to increased Meet Up subscription. Please pay on the day or preferably beforehand via this link: [https://www.paypal.me/aac007?locale.x=en_GB](https://www.paypal.me/aac007?locale.x=en_GB) Please choose friends & family option only
If you enjoy the event we encourage participants to add a message and/or pictures on the past events page. Other members can and do read them, which gives them an idea of future events. 📸 👍🏻
If you are unable to attend for any reason please ensure you change your RSVP to not going. Not doing this results in holding up everybody else, which is unfair on all. The contact number on the day is 07376 796266
NB: This event is not led by a qualified leader, or covered by insurance. Please wear suitable footwear 🥾 and clothing. The organisers cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety (including fluids, weather protection and a snack)
- Sharpenhoe Clappers to Barton Hills circular walkBarton-le-Clay Village Hall, Bedford£2.00
This is another brand new walk that Don and I have put together, due to being asked for something nearer to the North of Hertfordshire.
We leave at 10:30am prompt from the Barton-le-Clay Village Hall car park MK45 4JY. We have permission to park in their car park. The group will not be waiting for anyone who is not on time 🚙
From there we head West to cross the A6 and take little tracks to pass by Brook End Green Farm 🐄 🐖 🐓 then on to Sharpenhoe. We tackle a very steep climb (luckily with steps) to the top of the Clappers. The views are definitely worth the effort. We then zig zag across tracks around the village of Streatley. At this point we’ll take a well earned break in the very accomodating pub there 🍹☕️
After crossing the A6 again we pick up the Chiltern Way before heading North to skirt around the top of Barton Hills Nature Reserve 🦋 These are some of the best views we have seen to date 🌲 Once admired, we’ll make our way back to Barton. For those that want to, we’ll end up at the village pub 🥂Approximately 8 miles. This walk should take around 3-3.5hrs.
