New Year Walk - Wheathampstead/Batford/Gustard Wood

We kick off 2026 with the new walk that we came up with back in March 🤗

We’ll leave at 10:30 prompt 🕥 from East Lane car park, Wheathampstead. AL4 8SB. Please ensure you are ready to leave 10 minutes beforehand, not arriving later than this 🚙
(NB: Sat Nav may take you to the wrong side of the river. East lane leads off the high street beside the Miller and Carter. It's NOT Mount Road) Free parking and toilet 🚻

To start, Don leads us from the car park through the town and churchyard ⛪️ to pick up the Lea Valley Walk to Batford. Once there we cross a ford across the Lea 💦 to pick up the Lower Luton Road towards Wheathampstead, where we head north through an enclosed path to Mackerye House 🏛️ to follow little lanes before picking a Bridle path to Gustard Wood. On reaching Mid Herts Golf Course ⛳️ we head south back to our start point in Wheathampstead. We’ll end up at the very popular Swan pub after ☕️🍺🍟
