Trosley Country Park Circular Walk – 10.5 Miles
Join us for a scenic 10.5-mile circular walk starting from Trosley Country Park. We’ll follow part of the North Downs Way, which on a clear day offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. After leaving the trail, we continue through the peaceful chestnut woodlands of Whitehorse woods before heading our way towards Holly Hill then making a gentle descent from the Downs.
As we reach open fields, we'll enjoy sweeping views to the north before ascending once again and crossing the historic Pilgrims Way. A picnic lunch stop is planned just after the halfway point, before we make our way back to Trosley Country Park.
The route is mainly along public footpaths and woodland tracks, with two short sections on country lanes. We’ll also pass through a field where friendly horses may be present. If you're walking with a dog, please keep them on a lead in the horse field and around any other livestock.
The total ascent for this walk is 1117 ft, approximately half of this ascent will be before lunch, the remainder at the end of the walk as we come back into Trosley County Park.
Where possible, please car share. Parking is £3 per car per day (at the time of writing). There are toilets at the car park, but there are no facilities on the walk route.
Walk starts at 10:30 am and is expected to finish around 4:00 pm.
Subject to walk leaders approval we do allow well behaved dogs under full control of their owner. If you wish to bring your dog on the walk, please check with the walk leader before arriving for the walk.
NB: There is a £2 payment required for non-Ramblers Assoc. members to help cover our Meetup costs. Please help the walk leader by bringing the exact change. Ramblers members are welcome on any of our walks, but we would still encourage you to RSVP on Meetup. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Ramblers member, you can attend - just let the walk leader know you are coming by adding a comment 'Coming as a Rambler'. You will find the start location via our website
