The Delights of Aylesford!
Details
Moderate 9.5miles/15.3km Ascent: 1000ft/ 304.8m Circular
Setting off from The Friars- Aylesford Priory we will walk through Burham village, Eccles, Blue Bell hill and return via Cobtree manor park, crossing the river at the Malta Inn and returning back to the Priory.
This is a 9.5mile moderate walk taking in some wonderful highlights including, Ayelsfords Sewage works, some lovely graffiti clad walls, a motorway bridge and an industrial estate to name but a few!
But I am sure we will see some views inbetween!
A Picnic lunch at the top of Blue Bell hill to reward us for the climb up!
Hopefully no rain but at least half of this walk is on gravel walking paths so shouldn't be too bad.
Parking at the Friars is £2, there are toilets and excellent Cafe facilities.
Additional toilets and cafe facilities at Cobtree Park about two thirds of the way through the walk.
Optional Pub visit a short car trip back into the village after.
Subject to walk leaders approval we do allow well behaved dogs under full control of their owner. If you wish to bring your dog on the walk, please check with the walk leader before arriving for the walk.
Please note that there is a £2 payment required for non-Ramblers members to help cover our Meetup costs. Please help the walk leader by bringing the exact change.
Members of the Ramblers Association are welcome on any of our walks, but we would still encourage you to RSVP on Meetup. This will give our volunteer walk leaders an idea of how many are attending, and also to keep the numbers manageable. If, on the day of the walk, you are still on the waiting list and a Ramblers member, you can attend just let the walk leader know you are coming by adding a comment 'Coming as a Rambler'. You will find the start location via our website Our Walks (westkentwalkinggroup.org.uk).
