What we’re about

Seeking fellow "turtle trekkers". This is a slow-moving hiking group, hence the name. Be warned: We will stop, smell, and photograph "the roses". Expect hikes to generally be slow, languid and relaxing, but with a bit of exercise thrown in. This group would be good for families who want to introduce kiddos to nature hikes, for instance. A good example of a hike is a short trek through Mary S. Woods, around Cedar Island, fall colors through Maddax woods for short hike & picnic perhaps, exploring Tryon Creek trails. We might even take a short beginner's backpacking trip (without the marathon hiking) once the group gets established.

Dogs are generally allowed on my hikes, so assume they are welcome unless I specify otherwise. Based on my experience, dogs must be on leash (unless in designated off-leash areas), well-mannered, good with kids (no jumpers, please!), spayed or neutered, not alpha, play well with others, and have a human who doesn't mind cleaning up after them.
