AWS for Home Labs or SMB: Infrastructure as Code from On-Premise to Cloud
Details
Join us for a hands-on show-and-tell session where we'll explore practical ways to integrate AWS services with your home lab or on-premise business infrastructure without breaking the bank or relying on multiple third-party vendors.
This isn't a slide deck presentation. Instead, I'll walk through my real-world setup, demonstrating how I use AWS CDK, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, S3, ECR, Terraform, and GitHub Actions to fully automate and manage my home lab and self-hosted applications.
What we'll cover:
- Self-hosted GitHub Actions runners integrated with AWS
- Terraform-based VM provisioning (Proxmox) and network automation (Fortinet)
- Container image management with ECR
- Secrets management and secure credential handling
- Ansible automation triggered from GitHub workflows
- Cost-effective patterns for hybrid cloud/on-premise environments
Who should attend:
This session is ideal for engineers, hobbyists, and IT professionals looking to adopt AWS incrementally. We'll focus on using Infrastructure as Code to bridge cloud services with existing on-premise infrastructure in a pragmatic and realistic way.
