What we’re about
The West Michigan Kayaking and Canoe Club was founded in April, 2010 to bring together friends and fellow kayakers to enjoy and explore Michigan's beautiful rivers.
There are no dues and no fees to join us. We do accept donations to help the club run smoothly.
We are an exciting and dynamic group of individuals who have common interests. We welcome experienced kayakers, as well as beginners with the goal in mind to help you become a better paddler.
We are very safety conscious. Our member base is very experienced. We make every attempt to make your paddling experience one you will remember for a lifetime.
We have an excellent leadership team, who work hard behind the scenes to provide a blend of paddling opportunities that spans the realm of kayaking from the Great Lakes to the fast creeks.
Please join us if you love the idea of discovering Earth's natural beauty in settings you'll never forget.

We will have a white board for clubs to post their paddles each day. The idea of this is to have all groups come together and get to know each other.
The Michigan Paddlers Rendezvous (MPR) has a long tradition of bringing together the paddling clubs of Michigan and the surrounding states to enjoy some of the best seasonal paddling of the year. This four day event will see many paddles including different sections of the Pine, Manistee and other rivers in the vicinity.
Remember that September can see some cooler or hot weather, (or it could be 99 like in 2017, 80 in 2021) so plan accordingly.
We will have Canopies put together for our weekend which the other groups may also be involved in.
This area is also where we will have our bonfires PLEASE so ALL groups will be joined together for fun and fellowship. (you can start the fire as early as you want. but PLEASE do start it at this big group siteThe Pine River is generally not for river beginners.

General Guidelines
- PFD Required to be worn properly at all times
- It's a good idea to bring dry clothes in a dry bag and some in your car.
- Please be aware that we enjoy our alcoholic beverages off-river only due to safety and other concerns. Please respect the event host (It's awkward approaching someone mid-trip) and the clubs position on this matter. We’ll enjoy one with you after the trip.
- We leave on time to make sure that those who have to drop out with out contacting us can do so. We also can't wait for those who will be running late to keep the paddle in order. Please be on time or early.
- We leave together after the safety talk and picture. Please remain on land until the host has completed their duties in this regard.
- Our sports are inherently dangerous. By signing up for this event I assume full responsibility for yourself and your guests safety, equipment and well-being for the event including but not limited to loading, unloading, transport of boats and equipment and shuttle participation.
Failure to sign up for this event precludes my participation in this groups' events.
