North Carolina Adventure Trip

Details

This trip is limited to a total of 12 participants!
Join us for a four day trip to Bryson City, North Carolina! This is a beautiful part of the country located in the Great Smoky Mountains with many outdoor activities to choose from. We will be staying in a group house in downtown Bryson City and you can choose from many activities in the surrounding area.
Agenda:
Thursday May 8th arrival (4 pm check in time) - We plan to arrive early in the day and enjoy a lap on the Nantahala River beginning in mid afternoon. The Nantahala is a mostly class two whitewater river with lots of opportunities to play and learn. You may choose to paddle your kayak, rent a ducky (inflatable kayak) or pack raft on the river. We will be headquartered at the Nantahala Outdoor Center which is located on the Appalachian Trail so hiking, mountain biking or hanging out enjoying the river are also options for you to consider.
Friday, May 9th - We will drive 1.5 hours south to spend the day rafting the Chattooga River. One of the premier whitewater rivers in the southeast, the Chattooga is a breathtakingly beautiful and scenic experience you will not want to miss.
Saturday, May 10th - Back in Bryson City you may choose to spend the day back on the Nantahala, or you may choose to zipline through the Smokies, take a train trip along the river, hike or bike. We plan on hiring a kayak instructor for the day for those who are interested.
Sunday, May 11th - Check out time is 11 am. We will plan to do a short lap on the Nantahala in the morning. You can choose an activity or head back to Michigan after a fantastic long weekend!
Food: Thursday dinner is on your own. We plan on doing group dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. Breakfast is on your own each day. Lunch is included with the raft trip and if you choose to paddle with an instructor on Saturday.
Approximate costs are as follows:
Lodging (based on 12 participants) - $185.00 per person
Chattooga Rafting - $150.00 per person
Kayak instruction on Saturday - $170.00 per person
Ducky or Pack Raft rental - $40.00
Ziplining - $110 per person
Harringtons are coordinating housing, rafting and kayak instruction. We can help with coordination of other activities you choose as needed.
Please note - this trip has space for 12 participants on a first come first serve basis. Lodging costs may be slightly higher with fewer participants or the trip may be cancelled if there is not enough interest. Please contact Mary Harrington with any questions.
A $300.00 deposit by March 1st is required to reserve your spot.
