“COMPOSITION: Secrets & Techniques”
Presented by Allen Brooks

This program is all about how to use century old composition techniques employed by some of the worlds greatest artists. Allen Brooks' career was as a professional photographer, studio owner, and a guy with a lot of awards. When he closed his studio, he wanted to do the “artsy stuff” - you know - Fine Art Photography.
Allen says, “ I was confident, no sweat. Boy was I wrong! At best I was mediocre. I decided my failing was composition so I researched everything I could about composition until it was an obsession. This program “Composition: Secrets and Techniques” is the results of my findings.”

Allen fell in love with photography when he was 12 and has passionately loved it ever since. He grew up in suburban Detroit. After serving in the Marine Corps Reserve during the Vietnam War, he returned and took a job at a studio in Chicago, and subsequently opened a studio with a partner. He returned to Detroit and opened Allen Brooks Studio. In 2024, after 23 years in business he retired and moved to Holland M.

Following our program we will have a short social break. We will conclude the meeting by showing the November Competition images.

Guests are always welcome, we suggest a $5 donation for non-members. Members are always free.
