What we’re about
For Podcasters Passionate about Podcasting!
West Midlands Podcast Club is a free community open to all podcasters in the West Midlands, but also across the globe, who want to hang out with other like-minded podcasters, and make friends, learn and develop existing and new podcasting skills.
Who is the club for?
Current podcasters, producers, podcast managers, wannabee podcasters, or anyone who bloody loves podcasting (and talking about it).
Do I have to have a podcast to join?
No not at all, if you have been wanting to set up a podcast, but have not yet launched that's OK! This group will help you to give you confidence to launch and help you answer any niggling questions or overcome any worries or concerns that are currently preventing you from launching.
What's the purpose of the group?
West Midlands Podcast Club will meet online monthly (via Zoom), with the occasional in-person event, where we can hang out with each other in person.
Each monthly meetup will have its own Meetup page, which will have more details including how to join eg the link to join Zoom, or the venue details when we meet in person (somewhere in the West Midlands - we're always open to good venue suggestions).
Timings of each meetup (may change slightly on the day):
- 6:30pm - Doors (virtual or physical) open
- 6:45pm - Guest speaker
- 7:20pm - Break (loo time!)
- 7:30pm - Chit chat/Q+A
- 8:15pm - Accountability check-in (what do you want to achieve for next month)
- 8:30pm - Share a win (people can share any wins)
- 8:40pm - End (fun must end at some point people)
We can't wait to hangout with you all!
Who runs this event?
This event is run by Rachael Botfield and Sarah McDowell, two people who bloody love the world of podcasting. So much so, they created a community of other podcasters so they could nerd out and make other podcasting friends.
Rachael is a podcaster and hosts Podcasting 101, she is also a podcast manager, helping entrepreneurs make their podcast dreams a reality. Sarah is also a podcaster and hosts The SEO Mindset, works for Captivate a podcast hosting platform, and a speaker and author.

We'll be keeping our Meetup page up to date with all the events, however, we HIGHLY recommend signup to our newsletter and joining our Slack community, for the FULL experience.
We'll send out newsletters monthly with news and updates, we'll never spam and you can unsubscribe at any time!
Slack is where we'll be hanging out in between the monthly meetups, where you continue to have conversations with other podcasters and ask questions.
Click here to signup to our newsletter and Slack (we'll send an email, with details on how to signup).
Club Rules
1) Be kind (don't be a d!ck)
We want to create a community that is friendly and welcoming for all. That means treating everyone with the respect and kindness they deserve.
2) Zero tolerance of bullying
We don't want any bullying or hate speech in this club. And that includes comments related to race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or identity.
3) No spam and promotional content needs to be approved
We can do better than spam. Whilst we want you to share promotional posts about projects and work that you're proud of, we have the right to remove any content that is not relevant to the group with a warning.
4) Respect people's data and privacy
What happens in podcast club, stays in podcast club (wink wink to Fight Club). We need to respect people's data and privacy, so personal information shared in the group, stays in the group (unless permission is given).
5) Don't sl@g off outside the community
Don't be a tool, we don't want to make enemies. Please don't sl@g off folks, companies and brands from the outside world. We're not Lindsay Lohan and her mean Mean Girls
6) Don't start questions with "this is stupid, but..."
This club is to help each other and no questions are ever stupid. We want to create a safe space where people can ask any question they want.
7) Be helpful to other club members
Whilst this is a space to ask questions and get advice, let's not forget to give back. Always aim to answer other members questions rather than just posting questions all the time.
8) Be judgement free
Says what it is on the tin. Be open-minded. We should never judge others based on the questions they ask. We should just be good eggs and not judge.
9) Always address Sarah and Rachael as the podcast chosen ones...
Just kidding! Remember to have fun kids!
Reporting rule breakers
If you have any issues or concerns, please notify Sarah & Rachael on Slack DM or reach out via email: [wmidpodclub@gmail.com](mailto:wmidpodclub@gmail.com)
