“This is a group for anyone interested in hiking, rock climbing, camping, kayaking, bouldering, etc. All skill levels are welcome. I started this group to meet other outdoor enthusiasts. Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with everybody.”

We will meet before 10 am at Clipper Pavilion, and join Dr. Kirk Barrett, expert on local water issues and President of the Rahway River Watershed Association, for a winter hike in South Mountain Reservation.
The hike will be about 7 miles at a modest pace over rough and rocky terrain, with a moderate climb from the Rahway River at Orange Reservoir up the west side of the first Watchung mountain.
Learn about the River's role in drinking water supply and proposals for modification of the reservoir for flood damage reduction. Hiking poles recommended. And traction devices if snowy/icy.
Meet: at the Clipper Pavilion on Cherry Lane in West Orange by the Regatta Playground and swan boats (aka The Waterfront), 0.4 mi south of Northfield Ave and 0.9 mi north of South Orange Ave.
Snowy roads or steady rain cancels.
