Ivan Katernyak started his journey in construction in 2016, working on fire restoration, drywall, and general remodeling projects around Sacramento. What began as a way to build something tangible grew into a passion for creating meaningful housing solutions.

In 2020, Ivan made the decision to focus IMKAT Homes exclusively on ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units), seeing both the opportunity and the need for smarter, more flexible housing across California. Since then, he’s helped turn a small family-run operation into one of the most active stick-built ADU builders in Northern California.

Today, Ivan leads a growing team at IMKAT, handling everything from design and permitting to construction and client experience. His focus is on building not just units, but trust with homeowners, partners, and the communities the company serves. Ivan’s vision for IMKAT Homes goes beyond regional success; he is positioned to expand the reach of the brand across California, capitalizing on new market opportunities.
