Loot by Tania James
Details
Please join your book club friends at Roberto's Ristorante in Elmhurst to discuss a National Book Award finalist, "Loot" by Tania James.
James’ book begins with 17-year-old Abbas, a gifted woodcarver in 18th century India. He captures the attention of his kingdom’s ruler, Tipu Sultan, and is persuaded (forced) away from his family and whisked away to the palace to help build a giant, musical tiger ‘automaton’ alongside a master clockmaker visiting the region from France.
"Loot" delivers a tale full of intrigue, adventure, romance, and surprises. And, since some of our members prefer to be surprised, we will say no more!
For those readers who love books that take you to another time and place, this one is for you.
Newcomers are always welcome at our gatherings.
NOTE: Roberto's has required a $25 minimum food/ beverage purchase.
Parking is available either 1) on the street, 2) in a lot behind the restaurant via the alley or 3) in a lot across the street from the front of the restaurant.
