Please join your book club friends at Roberto's Ristorante in Elmhurst to discuss "Remarkably Bright Creatures" by Shelby Van Pelt. This selection is a good, old-fashioned morality tale told from the perspective of an animal that takes life’s toughest challenges — death, belonging, fear, loneliness — and makes them a little easier to swallow. The animal featured in this tale is a cranky, mischievous octopus.

Recently the tales of octopuses have been very well received. The release of the critically acclaimed film documentary "My Octopus Teacher" which centers on the surprising bond that develops between a man and a wild octopus, is also very popular.

Octopuses show lots of interesting features: they have a funnel for jet propulsion, adaptive skin for camouflage, an ink sack to fend off predators, three hearts and pulsating veins, big eyes, that are very similar to our human eyes, an elaborate brain, and grasping arms.

"Remarkably Bright Creatures" should be a perfect discussion for our June meeting.

Newcomers are always welcome at our gatherings.

NOTE: Roberto's has required a $25 minimum food/ beverage purchase.

Parking is available either 1) on the street, 2) in a lot behind the restaurant via the alley or 3) in a lot across the street from the front of the restaurant.
