Poets Tom Roby and Jenene Ravesloot will be featured readers and will lead a Poetry Wheel at Brewed Awakening, 19 West Quincy (across from the train station), Westmont, on Sunday, July 28, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Cover charge of $7.00 includes coffee and a snack. Other poets are invited to participate in the Poetry Wheel, which is a special form of open mic (bring a variety of your poems). Sponsored by the Illinois State Poetry Society and Brewed Awakening.

Tom Roby publishes and performs his poetry in Chicago, while writing criticism, running workshops, and winning various competitions. He is President and critique leader of the Poets' Club of Chicago, and was chair of their annual Helen Schaible Sonnet Contest. He is also a member of the Illinois State Poetry Society and Poetry and Patrons. His poems have appeared in After Hours, Exact Change Only, Poetry Fish, Frog Pond and other poetry journals as well as on north suburban PACE buses as part of Highland Park Poetry’s Poetry that Moves. He has published a chapbook, Griever's Circuit, as well as two other poetry books—Shape Shifter and his recently published Pressure Points.

Jenene Ravesloot is a member of the Poets’ Club of Chicago, Poets & Patrons and the Illinois State Poetry Society. She has led poetry workshops for Poets & Patrons and various Chicago educational institutions, such as DePaul University and Saint Xavier University. Her poetry has been published in the Chicago Quarterly Review, after hours, THIS Literary Magazine and other print and on-line journals. She has published three books of poetry: Loot: Stolen Memories & Tales Out of School, The Chronicles of Scarbo and FloatingWorlds.
