What West Town Social Club is about: Bringing people together and having a good time with various activities at venues in and around the West Town area! This group is for anyone looking to connect with others, whether you live in the West Town neighborhood, elsewhere in the city, or even out-of-town.
What we do: West Town Social Club puts on a wide range of events. We do meet and greets, arcade nights, traffic light parties, bar crawls, art crawls, holiday celebrations, sporting competitions, and more!
Where we go: Most events take place either in West Town or nearby neighborhoods. Venues we've been to include Innjoy Wicker Park, Desert Hawk Bar, Emporium Logan Square, Midwest Coast Brewing, Cobra Lounge/All Rise Brewing, Butch McGuire's, Standard Bar and Grill, Goose Island Brewing, Diversey River Bowl, North Ave Beach, Wicker Park (the park), Louie's Pub, Beauty Bar, Barcocina West Town, and more!
Who's behind WTSC: West Town Social Club was founded by Alan Vaughters in August 2022, of which Alan remains the organizer & sole proprietor. Alan was inspired to start WTSC in the aftermath of 3 events: 1) all of his friends living in and near West Town leaving the area within a four month period, 2) finding a shortage of social events (whether through Meetup or other platforms) in the area which left lasting impressions, and 3) the decision to end his teaching career and find something fun and exciting to do in his post-teaching life! Alan now wears multiple hats as a tutor, Taskrabbit Tasker, and event organizer. He is the person you will check-in with at all WTSC events (unless otherwise noted), and has yet to miss one!

Come join us for a fun session of glow-in-the dark capture the flag at the Wicker Park softball field as the sun goes down and nighttime begins. Glow wristbands and flags take this field day classic and turn it into a thrilling dusk experience!Players will be divided into 3 teams (teams will be assigned in advance), with each team getting up to 50 total minutes of play (25 minutes vs each team). Sign up by yourself or with friends--teams are put together by the organizer so that you don't have to! This also gives you the chance to meet and connect with fun new people :)
After games end, we'll have a post-game social at Standard Bar & Grill which all players are encouraged to attend. While not required, this social is your chance to share drinks, food, conversation and laughter with your teammates and opponents alike! Drink specials included.
Please note the following:
AGE REQUIREMENT: All participants must be at least 21 years old to participate. Proof of age may be requested by the organizer on the day of the event; please bring identification in case. Those who register and cannot show proof of age will be denied participation in the tournament and will NOT be refunded.
ALCOHOL: The Chicago Park District strictly prohibits ANY alcohol consumption in city parks. If you are caught consuming alcohol during participation during this event, you will be asked to properly dispose of your beverage. Any further alcohol consumption witnessed during the event will result in being asked to leave and could potentially result in being banned from future West Town Social Club events. Save your liver for the post-game social!
REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be issued except in the event of a non-weather related cancellation.
WAIVER: All participants will be asked to sign a digital waiver prior to arrival, agreeing that West Town Social Club will not be held liable for any injuries and/or illness associated with participating in this outing. Failure to sign this waiver will result in participation being denied with no refund being issued.
WEATHER POLICY: We will do our best to play on game day! In the event that inclement weather prevents play on that date, we will have a party and prize raffle at the sponsor bar. If weather prevents play on the scheduled date, a new date will be announced within 7 days. Any decisions regarding game play will be at the sole discretion of the organizer.Registration closes 24 hours prior to the event on 9/4, no exceptions! Reserve your spot today!

West Town Social Club's volleyball tournaments are created specifically with individual players in mind--no need to pay for a whole team and beg your hesitant friends to join! All players in this tournament are registered as individuals, and will be assigned to one of four (4) teams based on self-ratings--we do our best to make sure all teams are evenly talented.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert volleyballer, this event is all about allowing everyone to play in a non-competitive, fun environment. Why? Because at West Town Social Club, we're all about having a good time! This event will be co-ed, so that everyone has a chance to play.RULES/FORMAT
Most standard recreational volleyball rules will apply. West Town Social Club's ruleset can be found here. Team assignments and the tournament schedule will be sent in detail via email prior to the event.
The first round will be a round robin in which each team plays 3 games--one game against each other the other 3 teams in the tournament. This will be used to seed teams from 1-4 for the second round. Any tiebreakers will be determined first by head-to-head results, and then by point differential. The second round will serve as a semi-final, with the #1 seed playing #4 and #2 vs. #3 in in traditional best-of-3 format. The winners of the second round will then play a best-of-3 for the championship in the third round, with the losing teams playing a best-of-3 consolation round.AFTER PARTY
We have a great post-tournament social lined up after the tournament ends at Navigator Taproom. All players will receive 10% off their tabs, and the winning team will get a $100 tab courtesy of West Town Social Club & Navigator!TEAMMATE REQUESTS/FULL TEAM SIGNUPS
Anyone who registers a friend (or significant other) alongside them will get placed on a team together! Requests for additional teammates will be considered on a case-by-case basis up until one week prior to the tournament, and are not guaranteed to be honored. Please remember that this is meant to be a fun tournament where the emphasis is on being social/meeting new people rather than being competitive!
Additionally, with this being a social event, full team signups are not available.While we hope to make this an absolutely fun and memorable tournament, there are a handful of important, not-so-fun things to note. Please see below:
