Weekend Trip - Scotland - Hike #2 Isle of Skye, Trotternish Ridge

Hike #2 - Isle of Skye, Trotternish Ridge Including Old Man of Storr & The Quirang (pictured).

We can do this in two ways and we can decide as a group which one we will do.

The first way, which is the hardest but will be the most spectacular would be to park at the bottom of The Old Man of Storr, walk up to it and then continue along the Skye Trail along the top of the Trotternish Ridge all the way to The Quirang. This would provide spectacular views for the entire hike (weather permitting of course!). However, it is approx 17mi/27.5km long and 1500m of overall ascent.

The easier alternative would be to do a day road trip around the Trotternish Ridge, doing short hikes for each attraction. The attractions would be, The Old Man of Storr, Lealt Falls, Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls (waterfall pouring into the sea), The Quirang and The Fairy Glen.

The walk organisers do not have training or insurance. Therefore, anyone who joins the walk is accountable for their own safety and anyone they bring with them. By signing up you accept this.

Check the weather (on multiple websites) before leaving your residence. Bring clothing & footwear suitable for the forecast. We advise you to bring walking boots for any medium or harder walk. Trainers are only recommended for leisurely and easy walks. Bring a coat just in case (this is Britain after all...) and extra layers if it is going to be cold.

The walk will cost £1 to join. All proceeds go towards equipment for leading walks, group events & trips. A percentage will go to charities.

Bring a packed lunch and snacks. Bring enough food & water to last the estimated time.

We recommend bringing some cash just in case. Especially if parking. Not everywhere is contactless yet.
