Join us for an epic weekend away in the spectacular Lake District! We will be doing two hikes with a rest day in between. All fitness levels are welcome, however, please ensure read all warnings at the bottom before signing up. Including our usual disclaimers that will be added to each walks own event page.

Thursday - Meet at accommodation. Get settled in.

Friday - Hike #1 - Scafell (scramble via Lord's Rake and Optional: Westwall Traverse), Scafell Pike, Great End, Allen Crags & Glaramara - 5 Wainrights - 11mi/18km - Strenuous & Technical

See walk's event page here for itinerary.

Saturday - Rest Day/Leisurely Activities

No need to stick together today. Can go in small groups and do various activities, ideas below:

  • Non-strenuous walks (e.g. Threlkeld/Keswick railway trail).
  • Browse major outdoor brands shops in Keswick.
  • Walk alpacas or llamas.
  • Pencil museum (I'm joking about doing it, not joking that it exists).
  • There's an adventure centre near Keswick.
  • Lowther Castle near Penrith (this place looks insane!)

Sunday - Hike #2 - Latrigg, Lonscale Fell, Skiddaw Little Man, Skiddaw - 4 Wainrights - Strenuous

See walk's event page here for itinerary.

AirBnB Accommodation
I will book the same accommodation we stayed in in the summer, near Keswick. It has multiple bedrooms with bunkbeds. Every room has its own bathroom.

If you pay and then can no longer make it, there will be no refund unless someone takes your place.

Warning - Terrain

The Lake District can be extremely rocky. The majority of routes will have uneven rough terrain. Please be sure you are confident on walking terrain like this.

Also, correct footwear is essential. Trainers are only acceptable if they are designed for fell running or hiking. Your everyday trainers are not acceptable.

Warning - Scrambling (for Scafell Pike hike)

Scrambling is a lesser version of rock climbing.
It does not require helmet or ropes.
It is the most strenuous form of hiking. It requires using both your hands and feet.
Please be sure you are comfortable doing this activity. If never done it before, it may be best to go do some minor scrambling in the Peak District or Yorkshire Dales first.

Warning - Weather

Lake District weather is unpredictable even in summer time. You must be comfortable hiking in cloudy conditions on the terrain mentioned above.

Also be aware of the temperature. Be sure to bring plenty of layers with you, a good rule is to bring more layers than you think you will need. It maybe shorts and t-shirt's temperature at the car park but it could well be sub zero degrees at the top. When stopped for lunch, if you don't bring enough layers, you are going to get cold!

You should at a minimum, have a suitable base layer (a normal everyday cotton t-shirt is not suitable, it is dangerous!), a mid layer (e.g. a fleece or hoodie) and a coat.
