Itinerary
Meet outside the chippy & ice cream parlour across the road from the car park. This hike will pretty much just follow the Cleveland Way. We start by walking along Saltburn Road passing the Shipmans Inn. Immediately after the pub we veer off ascending up onto the clifftops. We walk along here for a bit until cutting inland towards a farm.
Just before the farm, we walk along a farm road and cross over the railway. We then ascend up to the top of Warsett Hill (166m) for a trig point and hopefully 360° views. That's the first ascent done. We now descend down the otherside of the hill, back over the railway and then continue walking along the clifftops, steadily descending down to Skinningrove.
We will stop at Skinningrove for lunch. Enjoy the little town, the beach and its pier before we set off again. Once ready, we steadily ascend up the otherside back onto the cliff tops. Making our way to the Hummesea Nature Reserve, the Cleveland Way goes past it but it could be worth having a quick look. We continue on and will then follow a footpath through The Warren to possibly see more wildlife. It rejoins the Cleveland Way which we now follow all the way to Staithes.
We will stop at the point pictured for our traditional Staithes group photo from this point before descending down into Staithes. Feel free to have a look around, hopefully we can get tables outside the Cod & Lobster again. Once ready, we have to ascend to the main road to catch the bus back to Saltburn. We can then explore Saltburn before heading back down to the car park.
