Itinerary Meet at the Railway Pub across the road from the train station. We start by walking west along the Huddersfield narrow canal to the famous Stanedge tunnel, the longest, highest, and deepest canal tunnel in the UK. Fun fact, before barges were motorised, men had to lie on their sides on the barges and walk along the walls of the tunnel to get through the 5 miles. We then make our way up to March Haigh Reservoir before continuing a little more to the west before ducking south through moorland fauna in all its summer glory. We cross the A62 nearBrunclough Reservoir and journey eastwards along the Pennine Way, bisecting Black Moss and Swellands Reservoirs. We straddle Blakeley Clough until we descend down into the picturesque Wenssenden valley before continuing northwards past Blackley and Butterley Reservoirs before descending back into Marsden, where we can refresh with food/drink.
