Itinerary

Meet outside Puddleducks Tea Rooms - short walk from the car park. There are public toilets at the car park. The walk starts by walking down the country road that starts at the Tea Rooms. The road is flat and passes through the countryside until it comes onto a dirt road called Whitendale Road. We follow this road as it winds its way up the Dunsop Valley.

Just after a pumping station we walk over a bridge crossing the river and follow a dirt road up the river on the otherside until the road ends. We then follow footpaths up to the top of the valley, coming out on a farm. That's the first third of the walk over and it is mostly an easy steady ascent of approx 100m spanning 3.5mi/5.8km.

The ascent now gets more steep, ascending 200m spanning approx 1.5mi/2.4km as we ascend up onto the moors and to the top of Dunsop Fell, weather permitting for great views over the lower Ribble Valley. Once ready, we descend down farm tracks down to a farm and road.

The walk ends by walking down this road briefly before taking a footpath through fields where it comes out onto the road we started on. We then retrace our stops back to the Tea Rooms we started at. If anyone wants to we can drive to Parker Arms in the naerby village, Newton-in-Bowland for a drinks and food before heading home.
