Itinerary
Meet at the car park. The walk starts by crossing over the road into the woodland and then following the path south to the River Ashop. We continue south alongside the river, cross over it and walk around the hill bottom to Fair Brook. We then follow the stream up the clough here steadily ascending to the top. We then walk along the rocks/cliff tops to the summit of Fairbrook Naze for views down where we just walked.
We then walk along The Edge for views over the clough where the River Ashop starts until we reach the Pennine Way (PW). It is then a short ascent up to Mill Hill (an Ethel if anyone is interested in ticking them off). We will aim for lunch up here.
When ready we continue along the PW to Moss Castle and then we veer off up to the top of Featherbed Top (another Ethel). We then rejoin the PW and cross over Snake Pass (A57) and follow it briefly to Old Woman (not joking - that's what's on the map! lol), which is a crossroads of sorts. We then follow a path across the moors back to the A57, cross over again and follow the footpath alongside a stream back to Snake Woodland. The walk ends by walking through the woodland back to where we started and it is then a tiny ascent back up to the car park.
