Itinerary

Meet near the toilets at the main car park. The walk starts by walking up the dirt road towards Roseberry Topping with it looming above us. Once we reach the woodland we bear right through the woods - at this time of the year the bluebells should be out in full bloom. We head through the woods and then come out where we can enjoy views across the meadows to Roseberry Topping.

We cut through to a country road and follow it through a small hamlet until it turns into a footpath. We follow the footpath up through the woodland - it is a short but steep ascent - until it comes out onto the moors and Captain Cook's monument - Captain Cook was the first European to map the east coast of Australia in 1770 and named it New South Wales. Just in time for undesirables to be sent there instead of America! We can also enjoy views across the vale to the northern hills of the North York Moors. Will aim here for lunch.

Once ready we cotinue through the forest until we come out onto a country road. We follow this road through the forest, farmland and then up onto the moors. We follow moorland dirt roads and footpaths over the moors, Codhill Heights until we come out on the hills above Guisborough. We follow the footpaths along the hillside with Roseberry Topping directly ahead.

The walk ends by taking the short but steep ascent to the top of Roseberry Topping, enjoying the panoramic views before a steep descent down to the woodland we started in. We then retrace our footsteps down the dirt road back to the car park. There is a pub nearby that does excellent food so we can go there for food & drink before heading home.
