Itinerary
Meet outside Menston train station.
We start by walking along Station Road and then up the A65 for a while while before veering off onto a footpath and follow it through woodland to West Chevin Road. Follow the road for a short while before then ascending up into the woodland that forms part of Otley Chevin.
We then work our way through the woodland to The White House where there are toilets (used to be a cafe here but believe it has been shut since the pandemic but I could be wrong). We then continue through the woodland to East Chevin Road, and cross over to the woodland on the other side.
We continue along the bottom of the woodland to where it ends and then ascend to the top of the woodland and walk through it back to East Chevin Road, cross over again and continue to the top of Otley Chevin to Surprise View for great views across Otley and the surrounding area.
It is then back to Menston station & the pub.
Disclaimers.
Check the weather (on multiple websites) before leaving your residence. Bring clothing & footwear suitable for the forecast. We advise you to bring walking boots for any medium or harder walk. Trainers are only recommended for easy walks. Bring a coat just in case (this is Britain after all...) and extra layers if it is going to be cold.
The walk will cost £1 to join. All proceeds go towards equipment for leading walks, group events & trips. A percentage will go to charities.
Bring a packed lunch and snacks. Bring enough food & water to last the estimated time.
We recommended bringing some cash just in case. Especially if parking. Not everywhere is contactless yet.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the walks organiser.
