Overview

Meet at the car park. The walk starts by walking through the woodland alongside Brothers Water reservoir. Then continuing along the farm road through a farm and fields, crossing over a few streams until we can start the first ascent which will be steep up to High Hartsop Dodd - Wainright #1 (519m). The ascent is in the event's picture, so it should not take anyone by 'surprise'.

The ascent continues but not as steep now to Little Hart Crag - Wainrights #2 (637m). It then goes flat for a bit before ascending up to Dove Crag - Wainright #3 (792m). If good weather we should be able to enjoy views down this dale across Brothers Water. We continue up to Hart Crag - Wainright #4 - (823m) and then up to Fairfield - Wainright #5 (873m).

We will aim to stop for lunch up here at the highest point with views of the southside of Hellvelyn, Grisdale Tarn, I think you can see Thrilemere reservoir from up (not been up here for over five years so I could be wrong) and down the valley to Ambleside.

Once ready, we retrace our steps back down to Hart Crag before veering off to descend down the otherside of the dale we were ascending up earlier to Hartsop Above How - Wainright #6 (586m). We then continuing descending back to the woodland we were at earlier, ending with a steep descent down through the woods into the car park.

We can then take a short drive to Brotherswater Inn at Sykeside before heading home.
