If that gets full, there's free roadside overflow parking just across the main A61 on Wike Lane.
Tips:
- 40-50% of the walk will be muddy and messy. Waterproof hiking boots are essential - don't wear running shoes or you'll get soaked feet. Wear layers, like a waterproof jacket and a fleece.
- If you want a lift, drop a comment below saying which area you'd want picking up from. Someone nearby will probs offer.
- Bring water (at least 1-2L) and packed lunch/snacks to eat on the trail.
Trail route:
Meet outside the Harewood Village Hall. From there we head south-east, crossing the main Harrogate Road (A61) to join Wike Lane and the Dales Way Link public bridleway.
The path meets the eastern tip of Eccup Reservoir. We will trace the southern perimeter of the water, using the closed Yorkshire Water access road. After crossing the western dam head, the route turns sharply north and re-enters the southern boundary of the Harewood Estate.
We'll pass close to the secure perimeter of the Emmerdale TV set before the path levels out into the wide-open landscape of Harewood's deer park. We'll stop for lunch at 12:45pm here.
The final leg takes us past the front of Harewood House and the lake. The path exits the estate's main pedestrian gates, where we'll finish off with well-earned drinks at the Harewood Arms pub.
