Clapham Circular Midweek Easter Walk: Waterfalls, Caves & Classic Dales Scenery
Details
Join us for a scenic group walk starting from the charming village of Clapham, nestled on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Clapham is well known for waterfalls, caving and of course a popular starting point for Ingleborough. Being also known for being one of the most picturesque in the Dales, additional points of interest in the area include peaceful woodland, a beautiful lake, and dramatic limestone landscapes.
Highlights include the impressive waterfall at Ingleborough Cave and the historic entrance to Gaping Gill, one of the largest underground chambers in Britain.
What to expect:
- Distance: approx. 6–7 miles (circular)
- Duration: 3–4 hours at a steady, social pace
- Terrain: Well-maintained paths, woodland trails, some steady uphill sections
- Difficulty: Moderate (a reasonable level of fitness recommended)
We’ll begin in the village, walking alongside Clapham Beck before gradually ascending towards the limestone uplands. The scenery shifts beautifully along the way — from manicured estate paths to wild, open Dales countryside.
There’ll be time for photos, snacks, and soaking up the views. Depending on the group, we can pause at the cave area and enjoy the surroundings before looping back down to the village.
Please bring:
- Sturdy walking boots
- Waterproof jacket
- Water and snacks
- Layers suitable for changing weather
This is a friendly, welcoming group walk — perfect if you enjoy great scenery, good company, and exploring classic Yorkshire landscapes.
Let’s get out into the Dales and make a day of it 🥾🌿
