What we’re about

About the purpose of this group:
To have an open and honest discussion where we start to understand where our time and energy is going. It’s a support group in someways but beyond that it’s a group of men who have made the agreement to align on integrity, vulnerability, and authenticity. A place where kindness, compassion, empathy and mindfulness are taught and learned through shared experiences.

The group's aim is to unburden ourselves from the isolation that so often comes with the "masculine identity" that we’ve been taught in our culture. To move beyond the idea of individual exceptionalism and the idea that our primary values are in provision.

Divorcing ourselves from these ideals and coming together to get in touch with real emotions in a safe space. A space that allows us to learn how to navigate the world without anger and pain. A space to release some of these emotions with each other, in the container that masculinity can create, through the safety of brotherhood.

We will aim to get together every other Thursday. We can also facilitate a "once a month or two" meeting where we have a Sunday together where we sit around..... barbecue, go hiking, road trip, just hang out that’s more informal. We can do this every couple of months.

Every quarter perhaps we will read a book and that can be the basis of discussion. We can do common exercises each quarter.... one quarter can be writing your eulogy and you can write it from the perspective of anybody. Could be a quarter on our fears or Misogyny. Could be a quarter where have a common project we try to complete together (park clean ups, volunteering, etc.)

The basic framework is really about learning how to be loved outside of the idea of societal accomplishment and provision. Of course we can bounce business ideas off of each other too.

The group is open to all Men 21 to 121 that need some support outside of their family and job. Men that are ready to open up, have meaningful connection with other men, and learn to allow ourselves some grace in this insane world.
