What we’re about
Hello fellow wine lovers. This meetup will provide an opportunity for suburban gay men (and city guys willing to make the trip up) with an interest in wine and food to meet each other and explore various categories of wine in a relaxed setting—sometimes in Westchester restaurants that allow BYO, and sometimes at my home in Mamaroneck. Adjacent to my house is an outbuilding dedicated to wine, with a temperature-controlled cellar room and a tasting room.
For each dinner meetup, I’ll choose a theme and provide the wines; I’ll disclose the identities of the wines (along with ratings, reviews, and prices) when the meetup is announced. The wines will be carefully chosen as good examples of their type and offer a good price-quality ratio. To cover the cost of the wines, attendees will pay a fee when RSVPing (total wine cost divided by number of attendees, usually 8). Then at the restaurant, each attendee will pay for whatever food he orders.
Events at my place will be more informal—there will still be a wine fee, but I’ll provide food or I’ll suggest a potluck format.
Although I’m happy to provide a much-needed venue for Westchester guys to meet each other, I want this to be a wine-tasting group first. Prospective members should have a sincere interest in wine or at least a strong desire to learn.
I’m the organizer of the city men’s wine dinner meetup with the same format. It had a good run for several years, but partly because of pandemic and partly because I’m now more interested in hosting events close to home in Westchester, that group went dormant. I hope to get back into active wine hosting here in the suburbs.
I've earned the Diploma of Wines and Spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, and look forward to sharing some interesting bottles over good food and conversation.
