SUNDAY OCT 18th - MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER WALK - Woodbury Common

Details
Westchester Novice Hikers Meetup is 10 years old this year and I've never posted a fundraising walk of any kind, wanting to keep it purely hiking. This year I'd like to celebrate those 10 years together by walking and raising money for our local American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. I hope you will join me!
Here is our Westchester Novice Hikers Team page at the Making Strides website:

The donations our team raises will enable investment in groundbreaking breast cancer research as well as provide free information and services for those diagnosed with the disease. More than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday this year!
Saving lives from breast cancer starts one team, one walker, and one dollar at a time...
please join me! http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=40847030&pg=personal&fr_id=69991

There IS hope, and there IS a way to fight back:
Get involved. Get informed. Get healthy. Get Brave -
for yourself, for those you love, and yes - for those you don't know too.
So here's the plan:
Any hike, walks or events over the next 117 days will have all or some portion donated to our Making Strides WNH Team.
Some hikes will be 'Strides Hikes', 'Strides Walks or 'Strides Events - I'll ask for a minimum donation of $3 (my normal meetup fee) and ask/hope you will donate more. All $ raised in a Strides Hike/Walk/Event will go to our Making Strides WNH Team.
Some hikes, walks, events will be my normal $3 fee - but I will donate $1 of that fee to our Making Strides WNH Team.
You won't have to join our Making Strides WNH Team at the American Cancer Society site to participate in any of these events, but I do hope you'll
consider joining! Here's where you join the team: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=40847030&pg=personal&fr_id=69991
Keep in mind the American Cancer Society is not just about breast cancer - they have been front line in the fight against all cancers for over 100 years. The research, support, information, program and services save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. Trained cancer information specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year at 800-227-2345.
Over the next 117 days I'll provide additional information via our team website and on our discussion board here at our Meetup site under the Making Strides thread.
Thanks for your support! Hope to see you both here and at our Team page!
And if I can answer any questions please don't hesitate to write to me via the link on the side of the page.
