FEBRUARY 15, 2016 - President's Day Hike at Teatown Lake Reservation

Details
This will be a winter hike (with around 4 inches of snow) of up to 3 loops that each meet back at the parking area. You can chose to do just the 1st forested loop of 2.75 miles, add the 2nd loop around the lake of an additional 1.75 miles (4.5 miles total of both loops), or to add the 3rd loop that has an uphill component for an additional 1.75 miles (6.25 miles total of all 3 loops).
This hike will be led by my good friend KEVIN SKEE of HARTFORD AREA HIKING MEETUP. Kevin's immensely popular group has been around since 2005 and he has hiked with us many times - including TURKEY HILL LAKE. - NOTE: THERE IS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND THERE WILL BE NO CARPOOL THIS TIME. Please don't make arrangements to carpool in comments. (Contact each other directly, contact organizer(me) or hike leader (Kevin) directly, or bring a guest and have them drive - make sure to rsvp your guest!)
To hike with us you will need:
-
Waterproof hiking boots (preferred) or winter snow boots with good traction
-
Wool socks or similar - to keep feet warm
-
Dress in warm layers - to add or remove to keep warm/cool
-
Warm hat or hood
-
Warm gloves or mittens
-
1 - 2 quarts of water
-
Trail snack/lunch - for energy
-
Daypack - to carry food/water & layers taken off
Optional items:

Preferable parking will be by the Nature Center but there will be a daycamping event going on 9 AM to 3 PM that may take up most of that parking. There is a secondary parking area we may have to use. Meet in the Nature Center parking lot. Kevin will have on a blaze orange mesh hazard vest (to be visible).
If you have questions.., please email me directly, not in your RSVP.
Have a great time!
