What we’re about
Do you love to sing? Westcoast Harmony Chorus in Surrey, BC, may be the place for you! Rehearsals are held every Wednesday night from 7:15-10pm, in the Fleetwood area of Surrey.
Effective February 23, 2022, we will be back rehearsing in person, with all of the appropriate safety precautions in place (vaccine passports required).
We are a chorus of women and marginalized genders, and we love to sing a cappella, mainly in the barbershop style (4 part harmony). We are meeting each Wednesday evening to learn new, challenging repertoire, from traditional barbershop to contemporary pop and rock arrangements.

Our weekly rehearsals are led by Master Director Anne Downton, the baritone of Frenzy Quartet, 2017 International Quartet Champions! Every rehearsal is guaranteed to be fun, energetic, and a high-level group vocal lesson!
We are a member of Sweet Adelines International. In October 2018, we placed 13th in the world at the international competition in St. Louis, Missouri. In April 2019, we won first place at the Region 26 Chorus Competition in Surrey. This win entitled us to compete in the next International competition this past September 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona against the top choruses from around the world. We are extremely proud to say, we place 3rd in the Semifinals, and 6th place OVERALL! A huge achievement and testament to the commitment to musical excellence and drive our chorus has!

Have you dreamed of singing in front of a live audience? Being part of a group of driven, competitive musicians? Have you not sung since high school, but want to find an outlet for your skills? Coming fresh off the regional stage, we're about to learn three brand new repertoire songs - and we want YOU to be part of it. For 6 weeks, we'll be learning the songs together, receiving world-class vocal and performance instruction, and getting ready to debut these new songs on a mini-show on Wednesday, July 23. We're opening up these rehearsals to potential new members and guests to learn these songs alongside the chorus, and even have the opportunity to perform with us on July 23! Yes, you can invite all of your friends and family to watch YOU perform live! For just $10.00, we'll provide you with access to learning materials (print music and learning media), and you'll receive several weeks of vocal and performance instruction, and the opportunity to perform as part of our international award-winning chorus.

In 2024, we were named the 6th best chorus in the world in the Sweet Adelines International Chorus competition (our highest score & placement ever!). Just last month, we won the Western Canadian championship, qualifying us to go back to the International competition in October 2026...making NOW the best time to join us! You can read more about us here.

Then come on out! Simply fill out our Guest Registration Form so we know to expect you. When you arrive, we'll give you a voice placement at the beginning of the night so that you may participate fully in the rehearsal, and begin learning our new songs alongside us!
Six weeks isn't enough...!
If singing with us for only a few weeks and one performance isn't enough for you (and if we're being honest, that's bound to happen!) and you want to join as a full-fledged member, we'll walk you through the entire audition process, providing you with learning materials and supporting you along the way. You'll have the opportunity to perform with us in the coming months, and even compete at the next International competition in fall 2026.
