Speed Friend Event

Join us for an afternoon of fun conversation and getting to know each other in the fellowship hall of Green Acres Presbyterian Church, 3135 Hanley Avenue, Portsmouth, VA 23703. The event is free and there is ample parking in the church lot.

After reading the Shasta Nelson book “Friendships Don’t Just Happen,” our discussion group talked about hosting a speed friend event. Barb and I have planned it and are hosting it in Churchland! We are also advertising in several FB groups and in the church bulletin where the event will be held.

We will have multiple one-on-one timed sessions with an icebreaker question provided for each session followed by an opportunity to chat before changing partners. Every participant will have a short conversation with each woman who attends.

The length of the event will be determined by the number of attendees. When you arrive, you will be asked to sign in with your first name and either your phone number or email address. Before you leave, you will be able to take a picture of that sheet with your cell phone so you can reach out to the women you’d like to know better.

The goal is to get to know women who aren’t part of your current friendship circles, with the hope that many friendships will bloom from this event! We welcome you to join us!

*This event is not affiliated with the church. I know some members and was able to arrange a no-fee space to hold this event. We are inviting church members, but neither Barb nor I attend church at GAPC.
