Award-winning NOVA Parks historian Paul McCray presents highlights from the storied history of the W&OD.

The Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail is a 45-mile-long paved multi-use trail in Northern Virginia that runs from Shirlington to Purcellville. It follows the path of a former railroad and is a popular spot for walking, biking, running, and skating. A parallel gravel bridle path is also available for horseback riding and hiking. Managed by NOVA Parks, the trail passes through a variety of suburban and rural landscapes, featuring historical markers and playgrounds.

Anyone that wants to afterwards we can walk to get food, smoothie or ice cream. At Backstreet Brews and Tea House connected to Scoops ice cream
