Join us for a classic North Georgia overnight backpacking trip from Amicalola Falls State Park to Three Forks on the Appalachian Trail. This section offers a solid challenge, beautiful forest hiking, and a true backcountry experience—all packed into a single night.
This trip is best suited for experienced backpackers who are comfortable carrying a full pack, navigating independently, and hiking in winter conditions.

• Plan: We’ll carpool from Three Forks to the Amicalola Falls State Park Visitor Center and hike back to our vehicles.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Saturday

• Start hiking from Amicalola Falls State Park Visitor Center
• Hike approximately 6–8 miles
• Camp at an informal back country site between miles 6–8 (location will depend on conditions, water availability, and group pace)

Day 2 – Sunday

• Hike remaining 5–7 miles to Three Forks
• Finish by approximately 12:00 PM

Important Notes

• Food & Bear Safety: Store all food, trash, and scented items properly at camp to prevent attracting wildlife.
• Water sources are available, but may be seasonal and unreliable. Be prepared to fill up when water is available and carry extra for dry stretches.
• We’ll hike as a group but participants must be able to navigate the trail independently.
• Winter conditions are possible; come prepared for cold, wind, and changing weather.
• This is a back country trip with no designated campsites or facilities.
