About us
Welcome to The Village Project!
This group was created by a single mom who was tired of the isolation that so many parents experience while raising children without a true support system. The goal of The Village Project is to explore what it could look like to rebuild community, connection, and mutual support in a society that often emphasizes independence at the expense of belonging.
This is an interest group for single parents who are interested in exploring intentional community models, including possibilities such as co-renting, co-owning, or creating shared living arrangements with other families who share similar values.
At the heart of this vision is the belief that community and autonomy do not have to compete. We believe parents should have both: the privacy and independence of their own space, while also having the support, connection, and shared experiences that come from living within a community or chosen family.
We value equality, collaboration, and shared decision-making. No single person should hold more of the power, and everyone’s voice should matter the same. We envision a community where families can support one another without anyone being trapped in an unhealthy or unequal dynamic.
This is not about giving up privacy or independence. It is about creating a strong support system: a place where children and their parents can grow up surrounded by connection, where parents do not have to carry the weight of raising children alone, and where families can choose a different way of living—one built on trust, respect, and mutual support.
Whether you are simply curious about intentional community, interested in building deeper friendships with other single parents, or dreaming about a future shared living model, you are welcome here.
What We Will Do
The Village Project is about building relationships first. A true village is created through trust, shared experiences, and genuine connection—not just through a shared address.
Group activities may include:
-Casual meetups for single parents and children
-Mom/dads nights and adult-only gatherings
-Park days, picnics, hikes, and outdoor activities
-Potlucks, dinners, and community meals
-Parenting support and conversations
-Skill-sharing and mutual support between members
-Discussions about intentional community, co-housing, and alternative living models
-Exploring what a future shared living community could look like for those interested
The long-term vision is to connect people who share similar values and explore whether a smaller intentional community—such as co-renting or co-owning a property together—could be created organically over time.
There is no expectation that members must pursue shared housing. This group is for anyone who believes parents and children thrive when they have both independence and community.
