WE NEED A NEW TELESCOPE FOR OUTREACH on February 23! Fairfield County Gives 2023

Last year, thanks to so many generous donations from our members and friends, we successfully raised over $10,000 and painted and repaired much of the tower exterior.

Please donate if you can... ESPECIALLY right at the start. If we can be one of the first groups to get 25 unique donations of $25 or more when the event kicks off at 12:01 am Thursday, we can get an extra $1000 toward the new scope.

We're strongly considering the New Moon Telescope 20" with an f3.5 mirror and some add-ons.

This year, we begin fundraising for a brand new telescope for the Westport Observatory. Our big 25 Obsession has been a workhorse for over 30 years, but it's such a beast and very difficult to set up and take on the road. Since our public nights are so well attended, we need another scope for the WAS campus for our visitors to use and a telescope that's still light enough that we can pack it up and set it up quickly for sidewalk astronomy.

We hope you'll help us on February 23 with this final fundraiser. It's been the number one way we fund the Westport Astronomical Society that stewards the care of the Westport Observatory.

PLEASE give generously to this project, it's important that the observatory lasts another 6 or 7 decades so we can continue to bring science to our community.
