What we’re about
Welcome to the Vibrant Women’s Community! 🌞🌺🍀
We are a group of women connecting, creating friendships, navigating life after 50, and enjoying life together. Most of our events are currently focused on the Westside, with gatherings in Tigard, Tualatin, Sherwood, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Aloha, and beyond.

2. Bright and striking – vivid, glowing, warm.
🌺 “A vibrant community filled with color and warmth.”
3. Pulsing with life – resonant, thriving, animated.
🍀 “A vibrant culture that continues to grow and evolve.”
The Vibrant Women’s Community Model
🌟 Energy
🌼 Warmth and joy
🌞 Thriving & Inclusive community
✨ A sense of movement and life
Our name highlights exactly what we’re building: a welcoming, connected, and thriving community of women here on the Westside and beyond — with the potential for us to create a model that other cities and communities can follow in our footsteps. Our goal is to build a vibrant community that begins in the suburbs of Portland and invites women everywhere to imagine the possibilities that the Meetup platform can offer.
What We Do
We gather for:
🍝 Lunches — “Vibrant Women Who Lunch Together” at local restaurants
☕ Coffee Chats in neighborhood cafés
🚶♀️ Walks in local parks and trails
🧶🎨 Creative workshops and crafting sessions
🍴🥧 Potlucks and 🎄🎃🎈🎉 holiday celebrations
🌸 Field trips to local flower farms in spring, vineyards in summer, and cultural events year-round
🚆 MAX ride adventures into Portland to explore museums, theater, and more
*This is a place to meet new friends, laugh often, and celebrate the good things in life. *There’s simply no limit to the scope of meaningful events we can dream up together!
Our Mission
Our mission is simple but powerful: to create friendships, celebrate life, and build meaningful connections through a wide variety of shared social and community experiences.
We have a foundational commitment to our events as a
“Political Discussion Free Zone” (PDFZ).
We come together to celebrate our commonalities and learn from our differences, creating a safe space for growth, warmth, and inclusion — with minimal drama.
We strive to be welcoming to all women over 50 in the Portland metro area -Westside, Eastside, and beyond. Members may be retired, still working, long-time locals, or new arrivals to the greater PDX area. What unites us is our shared desire to connect, contribute, and have fun together.
We'll also look forward to welcome women from other cities to join and view what we are creating.
Looking Ahead
Since our launch on September 1, 2025, membership has grown rapidly — proof of how deeply women are craving vibrant community connections. In just the first week, over 130 women joined.
We look forward to our calendar being filled with a robust selection of events for you to chose from!
Some of you have mentioned disappointment that events aren’t yet posted for evenings or weekends. That’s the beauty of the Meetup Platform and the vision we are seeing for sharing utilizing it among our membership: while I (Amy) mostly host daytime weekday events, our platform belongs to all of us. Anyone interested in curating evening or weekend gatherings is warmly encouraged to step up and post them. If you see this as a possibility yet have no experience with the Meetup platform, I’ll work with you individually or in a group setting to teach you how.
Please be patient as our community builds momentum; new hosts will emerge organically, and our calendar will soon reflect the variety of both daytime, weekend, and evening events we’re all craving and excited to be a part of.
As we continue to build momentum, we’ll create a shared Google Doc File - filled with templates and step-by-step guides to help you—covering how to post a lunch event, organize a walk or hike, and much more.
I’ll be traveling Sept 20–Oct 4 and again Nov 1 through December 6, however, before then we’ll have two October events — a potluck and a sack lunch — to connect and share ideas. These gatherings will help us refine our vision of how dynamic Meetup can be utilized as a tool for building community and begin kicking off the momentum.
Over the past week, your feedback — both in person and through private messages — has sharpened my vision. Long-term, I see the Westside Vibrant Women’s Community as the beginning of a Vibrant Women’s Community model: a turnkey system that women in other cities can replicate to build thriving, inclusive communities of their own, eventually connecting all of us as a nationwide movement.
And for those who love to travel, there’s even more potential. In my 20s, I curated and led two week academic history and art tours through Europe with an educational travel company, and then spent four more weeks each summer solo traveling across Europe with a Eurail pass. Through my 30s, 40s and 50s I continued spending month long excursions hiking the Himalayas in Nepal, traveling all over India, scuba diving throughout the pacific islands from Guam to the Chuuk lagoon, as well as living in Japan for 2 years, and enjoying the beauty and wonders that Costa Rica offers. This background gives me a passion for seeing our community one day curate travel and adventure opportunities for members — local, national, and international.
Above All
This group is an unfolding experiment in what’s possible when women come together to create shared experiences. Whether you want to simply participate in events or step into hosting and leadership, you are welcome and your presence is valued here. Together we are shaping something vibrant, meaningful, and creating a template to share with Vibrant Women everywhere! 🌞🌺🍀
