Talk: Constraint Programming for Decarbonisation and Growth

Google recently announced that it has a radically improved solution to the problem of assigning shipping routes and containers efficiently. https://research.google/blog/heuristics-on-the-high-seas-mathematical-optimization-for-cargo-ships/ If it works out, this could mean cheaper shipping, cheaper goods, and huge savings in carbon emissions from fuel. The techniques underlying their method are from an area known as Constraint Programming. We’ll explore the theory and practise of this under-recognised field, how you can get started with it and how it could solve some of your most wickedly hard business problems.
