About us
The purpose of this Meetup is to bring together people who earnestly desire to study the Bible in relation to important theological and Biblical claims. My hope is that we will attract enough people to create at least two subgroups, and that each subgroup will take up one side of a theological issue, research such position thoroughly, and then be ready to argue and support such position in a theological debate.
The goal of such a structure is for each participant to develop a desire and skill for deeper inquiry into issues of theology, utilizing critical thinking skills in the process. My expectation is that the group would meet once or twice a month, and that, depending on where participants live, to meet at various and rotating locations throughout the valley.
Although I expect that most participants will be Christians, such is not a requirement and I am hopeful that non-Christians, including atheists, agnostics, and people of other faiths, will, if they have an earnest desire to learn and grow, an interest in the Bible and Christian Theology, and are sincere seekers of truth, join as participants.
Because of the intended structure of this group, active participation must be limited to those who will attend regularly. Notwithstanding this, I would also expect and welcome non-active participants who eek only to listen and learn.
As the group gets started, I will be open to ideas about how to improve the structure or operation of the group. Overall, my hope is that the group will provide an arena for more strenuous engagement by people wanting an opportunity.
