What we’re about

This is a conservative meetup group. It might be said that human relations are mediated by the search for agreement or, at least, by the search for common understanding. This is a group for social and political dissidents seeking to oppose the now ubiquitous and dominant progressive critique of culture. It is our task, as Sir Roger Scruton put it, to "rescue the language of politics" from radical jargon, and in so doing, to reenvision what is right. For the most part, Christian and fiscally conservative concerns will be set aside so that participants might learn to produce a counter-critique capable of contending with the left.

For an answer to the question "What Is Right?" (as well as to the question "What is Left?") members might consult the first as well as the final chapters in Scruton's Fools, Frauds and Firebrands: Thinkers of the New Left.

In addition, the original organizer has penned the following piece about right-wing politics in Canada: https://wokewatchcanada.substack.com/p/subversion-of-meaning

A more sustained effort was put into the following piece, which sought to explain why left-wing politics began its centuries-long divergence from philosophically liberal principles: https://wokewatchcanada.substack.com/p/the-utopian-whimsy-left-politics
