What we’re about
This group is for everyday people who want to better understand how to support someone going through a mental health or substance use crisis—whether it’s a loved one, a neighbor, or someone you encounter in your community.
Led by a licensed clinician with deep experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and harm reduction, each session offers practical skills and real-world insight. We’ll talk about what actually helps (and what doesn’t), how to communicate in tough moments, and how to navigate situations that don’t come with easy answers.
Topics might include:
• What to say when someone refuses help
• How to support a loved one after a crisis or diagnosis
• Why people use drugs—and why they might avoid treatment
• Safety planning for suicide or intimate partner violence
• Understanding withdrawal, risk, stigma, and system barriers
• What to do when you’re the only one who notices something’s wrong
Whether you’re here because you’ve lost someone, love someone, or want to feel more prepared to respond with care, you’re welcome here. No clinical background needed—just curiosity, compassion, and a willingness to learn.
