From Rob Haskell, our new moderator
I'm excited about this Thursday. Let's have a good conversation, endeavor to listen well and perhaps have our minds changed. All views are welcome and so is respectful dialog and disagreement. Speaking personally, I love it when people tell me they disagree with me and explain why. Being skeptical just means that we enjoy exploring the truth of claims and ideas.

If you are looking for something to chew on this week, here's something we could discuss (among other topics you might bring): The story of Gilgamesh is the oldest known story that humans have told. There are echoes of it in most ancient religions and it even influenced the Bible. Here's an entertaining telling of it:

You don't have to watch it, you can also just listen as you do other things. What does this story tell us about what it means to be human? See you Thursday!

UPDATE! Rob Haskell, Author of "God of the Mind" has accepted the position of Moderator & Organizer for "Drinking Skeptically" every 3rd Thursday. Stay tuned for subjects here offered by Rob shortly. Monty Vonn remains as backup to assist Rob in this transition. Below is a link to info on Rob's book:

Secular Humanism vs Religion is another book written by a local author, Tim Church. Below is a link to information about this book:

Barkley Bob's Burger & Brew is still closed for renovations, so we'll move next door, just south of Bob's to Jalapeno's Banquet room.
*******************************************************************************
We will start out by introducing ourselves, our personal passions and also share our choice on how to conduct our meeting (2 minutes or less per person).

The latest Current Affairs are always open for discussion

This is an evolving process and I will gladly accept suggestions to improve the process, quality and enjoyment of meeting for all, if possible!

We encourage attendees to share their life story that lead their journey to the 'Land of Freethought', Free Inquiry and Skepticism towards cultural norms, traditions and stories.
*****************************************************************************
Freethought encourages creative solutions, but then this group uses reason, evidence and the scientific method as the only reliable means to prune down answers to our probing questions and common sense solutions to humanity's current problems.

See you there!
