Are you interested in playing music with others in an informal, welcoming, inclusive environment?

The Sheffield Community Music Ensemble is a new initiative. We aim to cater to people who play a musical instrument (all welcome!) and would like the opportunity to practice, play, or perform with others in a setting that is more accessible than many existing bands and orchestras.

These often have waiting lists to join, require a playing level currently out of reach, or demand a time commitment that is unattainable. Our goal is to create a community of people, events, and opportunities to play music that allows anyone to get involved in a way that suits them.

Perhaps you are an enthusiastic improver, or needing a bit of encouragement to dust off that instrument from school that has been tucked away under the bed for years? Maybe you are a more experienced musician looking for an informal way to play and perform with others? Regardless of your prior experience and musical interests, all are welcome.

Please join (and bring your instrument along if possible!) for snacks and drinks, a chance to play some easy songs/pieces together, and to help us plan how to fill the year ahead with fun and inclusive opportunities for music making! Exact location to be shared with attendees.

The community will respond and develop organically in line with the interests of its current members. We expect to play music of all kinds and styles, with all instruments welcome to join in! 🎼🎹🪇🥁🪘🎷🎺🪗🎸🪕🎻🪈🎤
