4th of July Backpacking Trip

Details

A challenging but beautiful 3-day hike through the Eagles Nest Wilderness near Vail.

We’ll begin at Wheeler Junction (Copper Mountain), hike north along the Gore Range trail, then west along the Gore Creek trail, camping twice along the way next to gorgeous rivers and/or lakes. Total distance is approximately 28 miles, with significant gain as we get up and over Red Buffalo Pass. Friendly dogs are welcome, although technically they should be on a leash in the wilderness area.

You'll need to be comfortable hiking 28ish miles over three days. You'll need a suitable sleep/tent system, food and water/filter for three days, and first aid. While we will all look out for one another, in the end each person is responsible for their own health, safety and comfort.

We'll arrange a car shuttle to get us back to our cars from Vail.
